FLCC trail Field Trip Nov 10, 2024

Attending the field trip today were eight members, (Steve & Linda Benedict, Holly Noble, Steve VanKirk, Allyn Paul, Jon Gross, Saralinda Hooker, Lyn Jacobs) and two guests (Jane Baker, Lisa Swarthout). We had to work very hard to find birds. But, find them we did, alerting to any peep in the dense shrubby habitat for White-throated Sparrows, and Golden-crowned Kinglets.

After enjoying breakfast at the Lafayette , Holly and I went to the water treatment plant on West Lake Rd to look for the Surf Scoter that had been reported there. We did not see any birds at first and then..............whoosh, a tight flock of 12 White-winged Scoters flew by only yards away from the shore showing the white patch on the inner, trailing edge of the wing. Nice!
