Field Trips & Meetings

Whether you're a seasoned birder or just beginning, you're invited to join us for exciting adventures in the great outdoors. Birding with others is not only enjoyable but also an excellent way to learn and deepen your appreciation for avian life.

Throughout the year, club members lead field trips to birding hotspots across the Finger Lakes Region and sometimes beyond. Each trip offers a unique opportunity to observe and learn about our feathered friends in their natural habitats.

In addition to field trips, we host regular meetings at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva, NY. Here, members gather to share their experiences, learn from guest speakers, and connect with fellow bird enthusiasts. It's a welcoming and supportive environment where all are encouraged to participate and learn.

All field trips and meetings are free and open to the public. Check out our calendar for upcoming events and field trips, and don't forget to explore our field trip reports for highlights from past adventures. Beginners are always welcome, so grab your binoculars and join us for an unforgettable birding experience!

Ready to discover more? Don't forget to explore our gallery, where members' photos, capturing the diverse bird species and scenic landscapes encountered on their own adventures, are featured. By becoming a member, you'll also have the opportunity to submit your photos for a chance to be featured in this exclusive collection!

Interested in becoming a more active part of our birding community? Consider joining the Eaton Birding Society! Your membership supports our efforts to promote bird conservation, organize events, and provide educational resources. You can also support our mission by making a donation. Together, we can make a difference for birds and their habitats.

Field Trip Reports

Listed below are reports from our latest excursions. We head out into diverse habitats year-round; weekly during Spring and Fall migration, and loosely every other week in Summer and Winter. While the primary purpose of these excursions is being in nature with like-minded friends and seeing as many species as possible, we also compile the data from our sightings and submit them to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology through eBird, an online database of observations providing scientists, researchers, and amateur naturalists with real-time data about bird distribution and abundance since 2002. Want to join the fun? Check out our calendar for upcoming field trips and be part of our next expedition! We invite you to explore and be inspired by the wonders of the natural world with us.
